2025 was a big year on several fronts!
Personally, I got to married to my wonderful wife Kellie – we were married in June. We have 6 kids in our blended family and life is pretty darn good. We continue to reside in Surprise Arizona.
Professionally, KMTaxOC continues to grow. We produced just under 1100 tax returns in the 2025 season! That’s a lot! I want to thank all of you for your support, referrals, and patience during the growth. My biggest fear is that this growth will continue and will ultimately diminish my ability to service all of your accounts. Therefore, we are still currently NOT taking on new clients. While I have not opened for new clients, I will continue to take your family members - parents, kids, and new business returns that you may have started this year.
I think we're all comfortable with the "New Norm" of doing your tax prep appointments virtually. A reminder that I shut down the Santa Ana office in May 2024. While I do miss your handshakes and hugs, I have decided not to have a permanent office in California going forward.
This year I have invested in quite a bit of software that will hopefully make the process of getting your tax returns prepared even easier.
While we will still use Dropbox, we will be phasing it out over the next few years. We will be sending out a second email with a Checklist to help you collect the documents we need.
· There will be a link/button to view your Checklist. This checklist will have all the items that were on your 2024 tax return.
· If you don’t have a scanner, you can open the email on your phone, and you’ll be able to take pictures of your documents
· If you do have all your tax documents stored on your computer, you will be able to drop and drag all the files to this link.
· The system will then sort all your documents automatically according to your 2024 checklist.
· Any new items / changes to your income or deductions will sit loose in this Checklist folder – and that’s ok, we will review them and apply them appropriately.
· If there are items from 2024 that don’t apply to 2025 tax year, simply dismiss them in the system. This is an important step as our system will continue to send reminders until all documents we need are accounted for.
The 2026 Calendar is open all the way through the April 15 deadline.

Just a quick note to thank all of you for your patience this summer. It's been a whirlwind since the April 15 deadline.
Kellie and I have been wanting to escape from Arizona for quite some time. So, we hit the road this summer looking for our next homestead.
First, we took our annual "decompression trip" to explore North Carolina.

Kellie and I have been wanting to escape from Arizona for quite some time. So, we hit the road this summer looking for our next homestead.
First, we took our annual "decompression trip" to explore North Carolina. Really enjoyed the beauty, history, people, and golf courses of the tarheel state. Didn't find enough there to call it our next home.
Then came graduation season... First was our son Ayden graduating from High School. Then a trip to see our oldest daughter Emily graduate from Colorado State.
Ayden is a budding outdoorsman so he and I took a fishing trip off the Florida keys for a couple days. What a great boys trip!
When we got back we packed up the AZ house into a couple PODS, loaded up the RV, and headed into the great unknown. Stopped in Branson, MO, Mississippi State for Ayden's freshman orientation, then due north to Michigan.
While in Michigan, we took a day to attend an AZ court proceeding to adopt my two stepdaughters - Maeve and Shea. So proud to be a girl dad to two great kiddos!
We wandered around Michigan for 5 weeks looking for a place to settle. We finally signed a two year lease about an hour north of Detroit on a 5 acre property with a pond, treehouse, tramploine, barn, and a a new office for KMTaxOC!
An now, the stretch run towards the end of the 2026 filing season. About 350 returns to do in the next 10 weeks!
Here we go!
