To My Clients and Friends
Now that I'm in Arizona full-time, virtual appointments are the norm. I think we've all gotten fairly comfortable with the "New Norm". I do miss your handshakes, hugs, and smiles.
You'll notice that there is no option to book an in-person appointment. I shut down the Santa Ana office in May 2024 because of the dangerous conditions in the office complex. I have decided not to have a full time physical presence in California going forward. I will be only offer in-person appointments for about 5% of my clients and these appointments will be offered by invitation only or by special request. If you must do in-person, please call for an appointment. I apologize if this is an inconvenience, but this how I have to operate.
We continue to utilize Dropbox and DocuSign as two vital parts of compliance. The IRS requires document security and this is the least expensive option to keep my fees low. As soon as you begin receiving your tax documents, you can start uploading clear and readable scans to your 2024 Dropbox Folder. The downloads above include organizers, how-to's, templates, spreadsheets, and deduction suggestions to give you some ideas and help you get organized.
The 2024 Tax Return Calendar Schedule is open 60 days out. We ask that you please be as prepared as possible for your appointment with all necessary tax documents uploaded to Dropbox at least 2 days prior to your appointment date. We appreciate your allowing us the chance to review and prepare.
My little tax practice has grown tremendously over the last four years, and I wanted to thank all of you for your support, referrals, and patience during the growth. We are currently NOT taking on new clients. My biggest fear is that this growth will continue and will ultimately diminish my ability to service all of your accounts.
You may have noticed that its harder to get a hold of me directly. I am aware and am trying to fix that by adding staff and delegating. I have created a new calendar system that will hopefully free me up a bit as well this season. The different time length appointment offerings will hopefully allow for more flexibility and a more open calendar.
Appointments take precedent, then texts, then calls, then emails.
I have found the phrase "I have a quick question" is rarely true. Most "quick questions" take 10 minutes to research and 10 minutes to answer. I hope you understand that 20 quick question emails a day totals about 5 hours of returning emails. A lot of these answers can cost you a lot of money if I'm wrong....they should not be off the cuff. I also prefer to put my answers in writing for future reference.
Not much has changed from 2023 to 2024 as far as tax code changes. The most notable thing is probably the raise in interest rates. The IRS has raised the interest rate on estimated-tax underpayments, and late tax payments. As of October 1, 2024, taxpayers who under-withhold, or small-business owners who fail to make payments on a quarterly basis, will be charged 8% interest, up from 5%.
I am greatly looking forward to 2025 and 2026 as the TCJA (2017 Trump Tax Code) is set to expire at the end of 2025. I believe we are in store for a very generous new tax code very soon!!! Stay tuned for that.
See you soon!
